For a weekend or a more longer vacation, Florence is a family-friendly city, a place where you’ll be spoiled for choice on what to see. Living Florence with children means visiting the most famous attractions, but also venturing to discover, in downtown as outside the city. Here are 6 original things to do in Tuscany with children.

May be museums sound to be boring, but a visit to the Uffizi behind closed doors , with a specialized guide, will be exciting for everyone. You can combine this experience with an adventure in the enchanting greenery of the Boboli Gardens . The youngers will enjoy the labyrinth of the Italian garden, while everyone will be surprised by the ancient and contemporary masterpieces scattered along the tree-lined avenues. Relax, art and imagination in a unique cocktail.

Are you a fan of mazes? Near Siena , in Chiusi , you can walk through the underground alleys of the Labirinto di Porsenna , an ancient Etruscan aqueduct that opens into a maze of exciting passages. Once “emerged to see the stars again“, there’s nothing better than a bike tour along the white roads of Chianti region (from the Eroica to the one along the Arno ) or, if you want to move, the cycle path in the Maremma Natural Park (at Marina di Alberese ).

Two short trips out of town: Peccioli and Ghizzano , two hamlets overlooking the Pisan hills, two open-air museums, with contemporary art installations immersed in the cobbled streets, among shops , homes and restaurants. In Ghizzano David Tremlett colored the houses, making the small village one of the most “instagrammed”, while in Peccioli you will meet giants and an “infinite sunset”. You will walk among breathtaking views and plays of lights, it will be an exciting family tour.

But it’s not just traveling that you experience unique moments as a family. Waking up in the spacious bright rooms of the suites, having breakfast together, taking all the time you need to talk, plan the day, or even just watch your favorite series without other commitments, these are all moments of relationship, an integral part of the best holiday with your children.
